GPS
Description:
The GPS will give an absolute position needed for the control of the airplane: the available data are the latitude, longitude, altitude, speed, time,... contained in specific sentences following the NMEA protocol (National Marine Electronics Association). All the sentences are sent once a second on a serial port (TX,RX,GND). Thus, a microcontroller will get these sentences, exctract the needed information and send them on request to the central processor (X-board).
The weight and ultra low power consumption being very important characteristics, our choice is to use the products of Nemerix GPS company which is the world leader in low power GPS chipset.
